Mystery Audi

Last week I received via the US Postal Service a Notice of Delinquent Parking
Violation from the folks at San Francisco's Department of Parking and Traffic.
They want $25 for a parking meter violation on 11/13/98.  The car is described
as a white Audi with the license number of my 86 5000CST.

The interesting thing is that my 86 is blue, resides in the Los Angeles area,
and has never been in San Francisco.  I was last through there to access the
GG Bridge in January 95 driving the 92 quattro.  If the offending Audi has the
same license number, is it a coincidence that it is also an Audi (unknown
vintage and model), and does it also have a phony year tag on it (California
issues only a year tag) to show it is registered?  The traffic people should
also note the SN of the year tag.  Any ideas.

I have prepared a letter for the folks at their Citation Review Center stating
the facts and sans the requested funds.
