MH99: Plans for cross-country caravan (from St. Louis?)
Hi all, I got the attached message from QCUSA today so I thought I'd post it
for consideration. I know it isn't really in the usual AudFest caravan
format ... let's see I made it from Colorado Springs to Sacramento in about
28 hours and didn't speed THAT much, so St Louis to Monterey has got to be
no more than a 2 day thing, right? :-)

California (MH99) or Bust....The QCUSA "cross-country run"
Want to go to Monterey Historics for the 100th anniversary of AUDI? Want
to have your "beautiful mint condition" Audi Quattro there for the QCUSA
Corral and the Laguna Sega Parade Lap? Want to enjoy the road and sights
from the east to the west along with another Quattro drivers and
enthusiasts?
Then join the "cross-country run" of Audi Quattros and QCUSA members...it is
not the fastest way west...but it promises to be the most fun per mile...
Here is a tentative (still in the planning phase) itinerary for this "run"
to MH99:
Day 1, August 20 - Rendezvous in St. Louis, MO ... the gateway to the West
and jumping off point for many of the "49s" going to the gold fields 150
years ago.
Day 2, August 21 - Enroute direction Denver via I70...enjoy the sunset in
western Kansas or eastern Colorado. Est'd miles traveled = 600.
Day 3, August 22 - Through Denver and beyond into the mountains...detour off
I70 to enjoy some Quattro roads through Colorado...overnight under the
starry sky of the Rockies. Est'd miles traveled = 350.
Day 4, August 23 - More mountain driving...(late apex all corners!)...into
Utah and join up with US50...more starry skies tonight in central Utah.
Est'd miles traveled = 350.
Day 5, August 24 - Zoom across the Utah and Nevada to Reno...of course we go
"slow" through the towns...and then enjoy the bright lights of Reno. Est'd
miles traveled = 550.
Day 6, August 25 - Through the Sierras into the central valley and on to
Monterey...
Est'd miles traveled = 350.
Day 7, August 26 -- A day to relax...wash and polish your Quattro...and
maybe see some of the sights in the area before MH99 activities begins on
August 27.
Yes...I know this is not the fastest you can drive to Monterey from the
east, southeast or midwest...but think of the adventure from being part of
the 1st QCUSA California (MH99)or Bust "cross-country run"...a caravan of
Audi Quattros winding their way across the middle of America toward the
sunset...albeit "close to" the posted speed limits.

QCUSA activity?
