Hard Shifting 4kq Fixed
Another one for the record:
One of the most annoying things about my 4kq has been the difficulty I
have had shifting into 1st and reverse. That was cured this weekend
quite easily. I finally got under the dash and adjusted the clutch rod
so that the clutch pedal was basically at the same level as the brake.
Before that, it was much closer to the floor.
It is very easy to adjust: loosen the 10mm nut on the back side of the
clutch pedal, then use (I think) a 12mm to adjust the rod. If your
pedal is too close to the floor, turn the adjusting nut clockwise
(spinning the rod out of the bracket where it meets the pedal). When it
is even with the brake, tighten the 10mm nut.
I am so happy to be able to easily shift into 1st, and to got into
Reverse without a "crunch".
Good luck,
Matthew Brenengen
