Maybe only the 5kcstq and the 200's got the chrome latches. (My '88
5kcstq and my '91 200 have 'em.) Just so there is no confusion, the
latches we are talking about are the rectangular boxes on the ends of
the doors with two 6mm allen heads securing them on. You can only see
them with the door open. My '86 4kq and 87.5 coupe have "plain" metal
colored ones.

Just so this isn't a total WOB I offer a suggestion: 
If there are no reflectors on the inside edge of your doors, you can buy
reflector tape cheaply and add it. My 200 has them stock. My '84 4k
didn't. I added them so passing cars can see your door is open more
easily at night and possibly give you a little more room as you get out.
