It doesn't surprise me.  The Samco hose is very stiff, with no provision 
for easy flex to account for engine movement.  That was why I used the 
HBD aeroduct.   Its more fragile, and much easier to puncture, but it is 
very flexible, and still quite smooth on the inside.  It also is very 
strong as long as you don't puncture it.    Its rated at 22 psi 
continuous duty at 350 deg F.  It will take over 70 psi intermittently.
