I once paid $$ for a rear wheel bearing for my old Audi 80CD.  Original
manufacturer's packing, complete with a picking slip indicating it had
actually come, for me, direct from the main parts store at Ingolstadt.

Opened it up - and inside was a British Timken bearing made in
Northampton, not fifteen miles away.  So I called them, and asked what a
part like that cost FOB Northampton.

About 5% of what Audi charge.
