Help! S4 Locking system gone insane!

OK, My '93 S4 has lost it's mind, and I'm about to lose mine! The infared key
gave up long ago, so I just use the key manually to lock and unlock. I let my
girlfriend use the car (truthfully, I wanted to take her car ice racing) and
when I got it back, the locking has gone haywire. (I know, my first mistake
was....)

Anyway, when I turn the key in the direction that used to lock all the doors
and activate the alarm, the horn sounds as if it has done everything
correctly, but the doors all UNlock. And when I turn the key in the "unlock"
direction, all the doors lock, and no tone for the alarm. Then sometimes, when
all the doors are unlocked, the alarm is triggered because the car won't
start, but other times it will. A couple of times, the alarm has gone off, but
even that doesn't seem to be consistent.  

Is there a reset button on this thing???? Should I just take it to a dealer,
or has anyone experienced something like this?
