RE: sunroof motor repair advice needed
I have an '86 4kq, and am not sure if it is exactly the same
sunroof, but I'll telly you how mine works. The motor has two speeds.
When the motor rotates, an oblong piece of plastic rotates with it. You
can see it if you take the motor cover off. This oblong piece presses a
small high speed switch halfway through the open or close cycle, causing
the motor to speed up. My guess is that this switch is not working,
causing the motor to quit when the switch is pressed. Check that the
oblong piece is pressing the switch, and that the switch works
properly. New sunroof motors are expensive, so avoid buying one if you
can. Let me know how you make out.
