I'll gladly pass on some info.
I just did this to my Silver 85' 2 weeks ago. Pretty simple
really.
1) FIrst, make sure pump is working. IF you have a vacuum leak it
may be working but the locks wont work. Pump is located in trunk on
passenger side approximately where your Power Ant motor is on the opposite
side. have someone operate locks and listen to see if it whiirs. If it
does start looking for vacuum leaks.
(however, if this was the problem its possible the motor can burn up from
staying on forever (which was the case for me)
2) No motor sound - Check to make sure motor has power. THere are
three wires going into it. Center is ground. One will have power for
locked position and one will have power for un-locked. (I think this is
right. Anyhow, if it has power then it should work so if it doesnt work
replace motor and listen for noise again.
3) No power - Check wires and check switch at Driver Door handle.
Never dont this but should be pretty easy. Remove Door Panel (Dont forget
the screw that is in the center of the Pocket. Its hidden behind
carpeting) and troubleshoot to see if switch is working
4) Power, motor runs, no locking. You have a leak. After I
replaced my motor I still had no locking because the plastic hose that
goes to my trunk must have a crack in it somewhere. I have not gotten
this hose yet so in the meantime I plugged the 4-way connector (under back
seat on driver side) and all 4 doors work but trunk wont unlock with car.
There is anothe junction point on the passenger side under seat for RR RF
door locks. 4-way junction under Driver Side Rear Seat is for trunk, and
LR, LF locks. Easiest way to troubleshoot a leak is to work your way out
the series of hoses blocking them one by one. First make sure hose to #1
junc is Ok. Then start blocking off door 1, door 2, etc in order untill
you find the one that suddenly makes the other doors lock fine. When I
blocked of the trunk one at junction it worked fine.

Good luck.
