Remember, when tackling the air filter, that we share 95% of our DNA
with chimpanzees.  My personal belief is that the air filter holder
was designed by Team Doorhandle after a particularly heavy party at
which they drank lots of cheap German wine made from Sylvaner grapes
and laced with ethylene glycol.  None of us find it easy the first
time.  The crucial tools are a large, professional screwdriver (or a
straightened-out pry bar - same thing) and a hook made from a strong
wire coathanger.  Don't skimp on the time required to make this - it
will be your constant companion through the years.  The business end
is a hook just large enough to grab and pull the air box clips.  The
shaft is between nine inches and a foot long, and an amateurish handle
is formed at the other end.  The 'de lux' version that I use has a piece
of 3.5mm ID rubber fuel hose slipped over the grip.  Well, I'm getting
old.

Pop the clips off with the pry bar (screwdriver) and lift the cover.
Depending on the model, you might have to remove the front right
headlight to get at the filter.  With practice, you'll be amazed at
how fast you can do up the clips with the hook.

On the filter - you'll lose about 2 fluid ounces of fuel.  The issues
are holding everything properly and having the right crush washers for
the job.
