We've successfully used the hydraulic method twice. You need a clutch
aligning tool or facsimile thereof. Fill the cavity with grease, up to about
half the width of the pilot bearing. Insert the clutch alignment tool and use
a rubber hammer to force the pilot bearing out. Yep, it's messy. But still
lots easier and cheaper than the special tool.
