Re: Sticky calipers
I've gone ahead and done the Alta-vista translation to save everyone some
time here.
Quoting quk@isham-research.demon.co.uk (Phil Payne):
>Something like this?
>
> "Hinweis:
> Im Reparatursatz sind zwei selbsichernde Sechskantschrauben
> und zwei Waermeschutzbleche enthalten, die in jedem Falle

Which translates to:
" note: In the repair record two selbsichernde hexagonal
screws and two thermic protection sheet metals are contained
to build those in each case are. "
Ohhh, that clears things up nicely. How blind I've been.
I thought caliper bolts is caliper bolts.

" only complete one repair-corrodes inserts. "
Aha, so I'm going to leave the next repair
incomplete (maybe leave an old pad in) so
that it doesn't corrode the inserts.
>And the comment on the diagram pointing to the bolt:

" replacing. 35Nm "
I'm fast, but I don't think I can replace 35 Nuts a
minute (35Nm). ;)
>If Audi says something three times, I figure they mean it. I don't

They also say "use Audi fluid only", use only OEM Audi parts,
"replace as an assembly". Do I really want to buy a $300
distributor for my V8Q because Audi says I have to replace
the whole unit for a worn rotor?? Or do I just replace it
with the correct Bosche rotor for $18??
I agree with the poster who says he's been reusing them with
no problems. I always clean the bolts up, never had a problem.
