There's obviously a difference in this aspect between US and European models.
As far as I know, all US models equipped with MC engine had single filter
setup. European MC models, however, retained the dual filter setup a little
bit longer. How long? Good question. Current ETKA says the change occured
in 1988. I have reasons to believe that it's not entirely correct. I recall
that the older (non-Windows based) ETKA was showing _both_ dual and single
filter setups for 87 Audi 200. I recently needed to order the turbo oil
supply hose for my 87 US-spec car. This part also differs between single
and dual filter setups, so knowing about the difference between US and
European models in this aspect, I asked the parts clerk to check the 87
Audi 200 on the ETKA, but insisted that he finds the p/n for single filter
setup. No way - the ETKA drawing was clearly showing two filters and only
one p/n for the oil line, but the parts clerk was assuring me that "the
drawing is only schematic and does not necessarily reflect the actual setup
on the car". So I ordered the part (risking that the wrong one will arrive)
and guess what - the part which has arrived was the right one for the
single filter setup!
