it costs me about as much to maintain and play with my car as it would
to buy a Ford Escort. Hmmm

Old conventional wisdom:  American iron = cheap to fix, Imports =
expensive.  

Nowadays, all cars are as complicated as the old imports, heck they are
all partially imported, right?  (sorry for the USA bias)
