The V8Q uses a ZF tranny, very similar to the BMW ones.  Did
the shift indicator panel light up all the lights?  Pull the
computer codes first.  If your mechanic doesn't have much
experience with ZF trannies, it might be worthwhile to 
consult someone who does before he goes tearing into it.
