The guy now in charge over there is Len Hunt, with whom I had my
famous and fairly public disagreement at an Area G barbecue a year or
two back - largely about Audi's practical attitude to 'heritage' cars.
We used to get a lot of lip service but no practical assistance. As
we say over here, fine words butter no parsnips. And as you probably
know, parsnips are inedible without lashings of butter.
As you might have seen here, Audi (UK) has recently revised its spares
pricing policy - in some instances quite dramatically. This occured
within weeks of Len's departure from these shores - I have no idea
whether the two are linked, but this is the most significant _practical_
move Audi have so far made to help those of us trying to keep its
heritage on the road. Personally, I would have thought someone driving
an almost pristine Audi with its full showroom performance at 200k
miles was a pretty good advertisement.
