My dad puts coolant filters on all his stuff, and he's _never_ had to 
replace a water pump in my memory.  I haven't yet put one on my 5kS, 
but plan to this summer.  One thing: putting it in the hot line to 
the heater core reduces your heater output, so I'd probably try to 
avoid putting it there.
