Question on 90q Eurolights

Eurolight mavins:

Received a set of Eurolights for my wife's 1988 90q this week. (These are
the single bulb H4 lights used on European 80 Audis.) These light
assemblies are considerably deeper than the DoT lights. An eyeball fitting
(without removing the DoT lights) suggests that the drivers side will fit
without difficulty, other than possibly requiring slightly moving the power
steering (?) pipe in front of the a/c condenser. However, the passenger
side Euro light housing appears to butt up against the rubber air pipe that
goes to the air filter box.

Can anyone enlighten me about whether this is an illusion and it fits with
plenty of clearance for air flow, or alternatively the Euro setup dispenses
with the plastic shroud that fits to the air pipe, or the air pipe is
replaced by something else? I find it improbable that Audi made a lot of
changes to the US 90 to utilize the less deep DoT lamp housing. Anyone?
TIA
