CV Joint Boots For Emergency - UrQ, 5000tQ
Here's the scenario, your working on the front end of your UrQ and you
either
A) discover one of the outer CV boots is ripped
B) you accidently rip one of the outer boots (of course this never
happens)
It's Sunday, you have no chance of finding a replacement boot. You go to
NAPA they tell you that they have it. You discover this part comes from
the same database that lists replacement tierod ends for your UrQ (it's
not a 4000 NAPA). Here's the trick. A very nice guy at NAPA opened
almost every box in the shop to find a replacement. I have no idea what
it's for but it fits the outers perfectly on an UrQ and probably a
5000TQ (I was told the CV joints were the same part) NAPA PN 4490. The
only trick is that the large end is just a hair small, requiring that
you put the metal clamp on the boot and slip (read push very hard) the
boot and clamp over the big end of the joint at the same time. HTH.
