This sounds high for this motor, though even real Audi dealers
will claim that as much as a quart in 1000 miles is "normal".

Early V6s (1992 and 1993) were prone to oil leaks, but from what
I've seen and heard around here, the 1994s and later V6s have
been very good in this respect.

If it's not leaking it, it must be burning it. Check the plugs
for signs of oil fouling. Maybe head gaskets or valve seals, but
I haven't heard of anything that nasty in such a low mileage V6.

There was an account a few months ago on the list which mentioned
that some times there have been problems with the low-tension
rings. Some were faulty, others installed so the all the "splits"
in all rings lined up, allowing oil a passage into the combustion
chamber...
