Over here we're being inundated with "free" ISPs - they get a few pence
per five minutes remitted from the cost of the phone call.  I have one
set up as a mail channel, and when I'm on the road (in Europe or the
USA) I simply log on to CompuServe and define the ISP's POP3 and SMTP
servers to CompuServe.  This gives me the availability of CompuServe's
network - very good - but avoids using a CompuServe email ID or any
of their other services.
