Whether you have to pull the damper to do the oil seal is academic (you
do) because you have to get the thing off anyway to change the belt,
thanks to Audi's idiosyncratic bottom end design.
Ideally, you need service tool 3084 to lock the crank in position,
although there are kludges if you can't beg, steal or borrow one. The
major problem for most people is the torque - 332 lb ft at the bolt.
