certainly wouldn't be the first time... or the last...

in fact this time, i think both viewpoints are correct ->

as I recall, research geeks somewhere showed that while red has the least
absolute affect on night vision and so is certainly best for military life &
death type applications, red causes more fatigue over longer periods, and this
is why automakers have been going from red to cooler lighting colors.
