Bose stereo question

All,
 First, it seems we're now a 3 quattro family. Last night my wife bought a
1991 glacier blue 200q. It is generally in very nice shape but the driver's
seat heater isn't working and the radio is giving her trouble.
 The Bose stereo system in my wife's '91 200q started beeping at her quite
loudly last night. It also seemed to cut in and out on her and finally the
reception wasn't very good either.
 I am wondering if someone can give me some ideas what to investigate.
