Re: Bose stereo question

You or she probably hit the button that turns on a function in the
radio for finding radio stations that have a special
roadway/hazard/weather alert capability. Pressing the button makes
the radio search for these stations, and if something bad happens in
your area, the radio automagically turns up the volume(if it is
turned down) and switches to that station. If it can't find any of
these special radio stations in the band selected, it starts
beeping...louder...and louder...and louder...and louder...and there
is no documentation as to how to turn this feature off, and it
doesn't go away after you turn off the radio and back on again!

Try switching between FM and AM a couple of times, push other
buttons...just steer clear of this button...I think it's labeled
"ANS"...it's the only other 3-letter button on the radio besides DNR.

BTW, if you listen to a lot of tapes, the "DNR" function is neat.
No, it's not "Dolby Noise Reduction", it's "Dynamic Noise Reduction."
It's basically the tape player equivalent of what the fancy CD
players call "zero off"; when no music plays, the amp/volume/whatever
is turned down. On the tape deck, this zaps hiss during quiet
sections. Some high-frequency noise is lost in the actual music, but
it makes listening to a lousy tape about 10x more enjoyable. There
is no indicator, but it's immediately obvious with a tape and less so
with the radio(yes, it supposedly works with the radio as well,
unlike Dolby.)

As far as the heated seats go, my driver's side heater doesn't work either...

PS:This radio has some incredibly annoying features that defy
stupidity: dolby always comes on the first time a tape is inserted
after the unit has been turned on. There's no way to toggle this
feature, to my knowledge; probably some marketing puke at Dolby came
up with this cute little idea. Fucking marketing people.
