Re: '81 5000 diesel
Depends on whether your a diesel fan or not. I had a 1983 Turbo-diesel
5000 about five years ago. It was a great car, had good power (not great,
but good) and got 45 mpg on the freeway. Diesels are a little finicky
though, sometimes hard to start in the winter (could be a BIG problem in
Heber) and a little smelly. I wouldn't consider converting to gas, the
conversion would cost you at least a couple thousand dollars, much more
than the car would be worth when complete.

listers,
First of all, thanks for all the help on troubleshooting a draining
battery in
my '86 4kcsq. Haven't secured a digital multimeter yet but will soon and
should fix the problem.
who knows anything about an '81 5000 diesel? I found this one for "free"
here
in Heber City, Utah and wondered if it was worth messing with. Possibly
transfering over to gas? Any info would help my descision to tell my wife
I'm
bringing home another project car.
