STRUTS OR WHAT???

Hey guys, I have a problem with my '91 Audi 100.  It seems that the front end
(passengers side) seems "jiggly" and "wobbly"; the car is often "bouncy" and
lacks that "smooth ride".  I suspected struts.  A few dealers said you need
struts, but one dealer said that the struts you have are not totally bad, and
that a good alignment will set you at almost 100% performance.  What should I
do?  There is of course a major price difference, at at this time in my life,
$$$ is scarce.  But it would be nice to have a "smooth ride".
