RE: too old ???
car needs in one way or another. 4000Q's can be pretty pricey to
keep up,
too. Remember, in the US almost everything on the 4000Q was 4000Q
only (since
the TQC was no longer imported after 86). IE rear suspension, rear
brakes,
tie rods, exhaust, driveshafts...
Good luck, I purchaced my 4000CSQ for 2500$ about 4 years ago. What
a great
car, after I dumped 4K$ into it..
... say what? The 4kQ pricey to keep up!? Stay away from the Type
44 Will Robinson! BTW, my ur-quattro has 5-lug hubs so there might be some
differences between the 4kQ and the QTC ...

'85 4kSQ, purchased in 1997 with 204K miles for $1200 and in need of
clutch. Expenses to date: ~$350 for clutch, ~$75 for heater core & hoses,
~$200 new set of tires ... cheap labor ... dump a little gas in it every
once in a while and have some fun ...
'83 QTC ... if maintenance expenses were averaged over the years of
ownership I'm pretty sure they'd work out pretty comparable to the above ...
'88 5kCSQA ... don't get me started ...
'91 v8q/5speed ... so far, so good ...
