Euro-Fords in US

As another multiple Capri owner/lover, I remember reading a comparison 
between the failure of the AWD Capri and success of the quattro.  The 
Capri was inadequatly powered to take advantage of the AWD advantage.  
Ford also offered a police special V8.

Ford of Europe made Capri's in Cologne and shipped them here from 
something like
72-78.  Interesting cars, slower but lighter outfitted with a 4, more 
american with a
6, but a cheap fun car either way (I had 2 in previous lives).  In 
Europe there were
some super hotrod GT versions of these that are collector cars these 
days.
