My brother is considering the purchase of an A4 with the Tiptronic
transmission to appease his wife's desire for an 'automatic' and his
desire for 'shiftability'.  They live in Portland, and will be wanting the
quattro for skiing and longer road trips.

I've not picked up the buzz on the Tiptronic from this list, and am
wondering if any of you have first-hand experience and opinions on the
driveability and durablity of these transmissions.  Please e-mail me your
opinions and I'll summarize and forward the accumulated wisdom to my
brother to add to his knowledge base.
