re [80q] Electrical Problems

My 88 80Q seems to have a string of electrical problems. The

worked once but it could only open the window and then its

Wow!  Where to begin?  Sorry Mike, but these cars have these problems
routinely.  The  principal reason is contact corrosion.  You may be able to
salvage most of the door switches by carefully taking them apart and
cleaning them.  Otherwise, buy new ones.  Also the engine light can
sometimes be restored by cleaning of contacts inside.  Ditto window
switches.  A pain to take apart, but the contacts can be cleaned.  The lamp
in the ashtray is replaceable with commonly available lamps.
