Hi,
   When I purchased my A4 (about 2 weeks ago) the dealer told me to make sure 
that when replacing the gas cap make sure that it clicks a couple times to 
ensure that it is on properly.  Apparently the oxygen sensor is sensitive 
enough that if the gas cap isn't on all the way the check engine light will 
come on.  I don't know if this info helps but I thought I would throw it out 
anyway.  Good luck, I hope its something that simple.
