Customs.  You may be "avoiding" paying a tariff on the purchased item
you are "importing".

Even if there were no fee involved (ie under your limit for given
country) keeping it hidden and not decalring it is the problem.  I take
it the ski sack is to protect it from damage?

Just don't *look* nervous and don't watch Midnight Express for a while
before trying it...
