AC problem

Hi Y'all,

Just trying to pick your collective wisdom.

The AC and heat on my '95 S5 are not functioning properly. The heat stays
on far too long. If I set the temperature indicator to say 74 degrees with
an OAT of 85 degrees and with the car parked in the sun (and therefore hot
as H) the heater still blows heated air. If I turn the temperature control
down to Low, I get lots of nice cold air conditioned air. Therfore there
is no problem with the compressor, etc.

I'm guessing perhaps an out of calibration temp sensor. (BTW, indicated
OAT is about correct.) Or possibly dirty contacts causing the heat cut-off
signal not to arrive at the valve or the inside temperature not to reach
the control unit. Or possibly a problem with the valve itself.

Any BTDTs out there?
