Frozen O2 sensor
As you can drive the car with the O2 sensor disconnected, the likelihood
of having to have it towed to the shop is low. If you cut the protruding
portion off, there may be a bit of an exhaust leak, but nothing that
would preclude driving the car. Generally, when faced with this problem,
a true socket works better than the O2 sensor socket, weakened as it is
by the cut-out. I've had to go to a 1/2 inch drive socket and a long
breaker bar on occasion. Once it's loose, spray some of whichever
penetrating oil you like, and retighten it, loosen it again, respray, ad
infinitum. That lessens the chances of honking up the threads. You can
always clean them out with an 18mm spark plug tap, as I recall. (18mm,
NOT 14mm!) HTH, John
