02 sockets

Those O2 sensor sockets with a slot in the side tend to flex a lot...
at least mine does. I'm beginning to think they are only suitable
for installation.
Since some O2 sensors practically weld themselves in, for removal,
cutting the wires and a deep socket may be a better idea,
or cutting the top of the sensor off as you suggest if you don't
have a socket deep enough.
Orin, I absolutely agree. I've broken two Lisle 02 sockets ih half
(different times) trying to get old 02 sensors out. Fortunately,
they're lifetime guaranteed so I got replacements easily. After that,
I soak them with Kroil for 24 hours and then use a six-point 1/2"
drive socket to take them out. The only practical use of the 02
socket with the slotted side is, (IMO) installation.
