radiator fan short

    my radiator fan in my 1988 audi 90q doesn't work.  i can wiggle the
wires on the back of the fan and it will work sometimes.  maybe unrelated,
but the after-run feature doesn't seem to work and it doesn't seem to change
speeds any more.  the fan is new as is the radiator.
    i was hoping to pull the plug off the back of the fan and just clean
everything and reconnect, but can't get my hands in there and don't want to
pry the thing off without knowing what i'm doing.  thanks again for the
