One of the tips I recall seeing on the qlist during my "early days"
involved squeaks which turn out to come from the seatbelts. With both my
'91 200q ownership experiences, I've found that the driver's seatbelt
_fastener_ makes a  tiny high-pitched squeak due to very slight
fore-and-aft movement--and only when in actual use. It is very easily
confused with seatback noise. My remedy has been occasional application of
a non-oily lubricant like the teflon-laced stuff I use on my bicycle chains
(e.g., "Finish Line" brand). Seems to work for a few months at a time. Look
to see if the chrome plating has worn off the end of the fastener--maybe
that's the source of noise that one or both you are hearing?
