ARGH! Wierd UrQ "idle" habits... MC people, help please...

hey all, this is wierd. It hasnt happened to me in a while, and i know
why now.

Anyway, my EM is warped/cracked, whatever, but i just found out yesterday
that the number one cylinder was also affected by a broken stud and loose
locknut.

Prior to that investigation, i had noticed a misfire, which i had written
to the list about a few weeks ago, and got nothing back. Mostly at idle,
gets more severe as the car idles longer. So i systematically took off
each spark plug wire while the car was running to see if i noticed a
difference. Every plug, except number one made what i thought to be:
"the standard difference." Where the engine idled roughly, etc. Number
1 produced some wierd effects. When i removed the plug, the engine
suddenly reved up, maybe to 2000 RPM, bounced between that and maybe 1500
and then settled down into an idle that didnt sound all that much
different than when the plug was connected. BTW, the bennetts installed
those nology wires with the wierd ground braids and such, so i dont know
if they could be a cause...

The plug was still getting a spark, as while i was putting the plug back
on, it arced a couple times and then when it made a connection to the
plug itself, it reved up slightly, and then fell into a "smooth" idle
again.

Anyway, then later on, i found that the number 1 cylinder EM was messed
up, so i realigned the gasket, tightened the 1 remaining stud and then
started the car. It was noticably more quiet as far as the ticking goes.

But now, whenever i start the car from cold, it almost dies for the first
couple minutes. It will start up, and then immediately die the first
time. Then the second time it will start up, and then fall into a vry
low idle of maybe 250rpm. Keep in mind that it was idling and starting
fine all the time before i changed the seal of the EM. So then after it
warms up a bit, it does the exact opposite: it revs WAY too high. It
constantly revs around 2500-3000 RPM now, anytime its supposed to be
idling. Again, the only change to the car i made was sealing up that
number 1 cylinder EM again...

Anyone have any ideas? I cant pull any codes from the thing because the
bennetts have this little two pin terminal that comes out of the dash
that they hook up some box with an led to and that tells them the codes.
I dont have one of those boxes. Its the yellow wire and some black wire
if i remember correctly going to it. Anyone know how i could pull the
codes from something like that??

thanks in advance everyone.

later...
