Strut and strut mount replacement 93 90s
Listers,
I'm ready to replace the front struts and mounts on my 93 90s (FWD).
Is there any way to do this without removing the strut housing from
the car? eg could I:
1. compress the springs on the car
2. remove top nut and the slotted nut from above
3. manually compress the shock insert so that the tip drops into the
wheelwell
4. remove the mount and top spring plate(since the tip is now in the
wheelwell)
5. remove the thredded cap (using channel-locks through spaces in the
spring)
6. pull the shock insert up through the engine compartment?
I think the strut set up is the same as on older 4000/80/90's, so if
anyone has BTDT, I'd appreciate any input. I think it's possible in
theory, but only if there will be enough clearance to get the threaded
top of the shock insert low enough in the wheelwell.
I'd really like to avoid pulling the control arm, ball joint, and
drive shaft etc., if I can.
Thanks for your help.
