Insurance
I've had an even easier time - perhaps due to the quality of the
insurance company/broker I use. Agreed upon value is indeed a great
solution. When I purchased my 93 S4 a few months ago, the policy was
written with an agreed value (provided by the insurer, not me) of
$28,000. Needless to say, that's greatly in excess (in fact, by over
$10,000) of what I paid for the car. My other cars also have agreed
upon values - also, IMO, for much more than they're actually worth,
but if the insurer is willing, I'm certainly not going to disagree :)
Tthe insurance on my house is a variation, since it's insured for the
cost of rebuilding it, and if it were "totaled" I'd have to be a
lunatic to rebuild when I could buy a comparable house for about half
of what the insurance proceeds would be.
All of which means, from an economic standpoint, that I'd be extremely
fortunate if one day, while no one was home, a meteorite landed on my
house and cars and wiped them out :)

Ever heard of Agreed Value. If you can justify the value of your
vehicle (estimate/Photo) you can carry physical damage for that
amount. Guess what, with just a little effort on your part, you could
get some of that money back you've had stolen over the years by your
insurance company. I do it all the time, for you see, I am an GASP!!!
Insurance Agent. When I'm not screwing the public I usually spend my
time paying out claims and wet nursing people like you who just don't
get it!!!
