Re: Speedometer and Odometer out
I sourced some OEM replacement gear sets from a VDO vendor about ten years
ago, and I still have a couple left. They were horrendously expensive at
the time, as I paid well over $100 for five sets. If you wish, I could part
with the remainder for $20/set. I think that my present Avant will be the
last type 44 car in the stable.

| On the speedo driven 5000's there is a gear that comes out. Take the
| speedo out and look at it from the back. On the left side you will see
| a white gear on a shaft that has kind of moved to the left(Out). Push
| the gear back it. You wiil have to keep it from coming out again.
| My car had the gear on the speedo come out on me so I pushed
| ir back in but it came out again. I converted my car to a Turbo with
| gauges so I did not fix it permanetly. While you have the intrument
| cluster out you might as well reset lever on back of the cluster so
| your EGR light does not come for another 20K. It has been awile since
| I did all this so I may have the sides wrong on the gear.
|
| Hope you get yours fixed.
