200 battery cable length
Guys & gals - the next project on the 89 200tqa is to replace the
positive battery cable. Mine is corroded at the battery side, and the
corrosion goes well under the sheathing. The voltage upon startup is
14v, but then quickly drops to 12V, and erractically shows 14V once in a
while. There is a drop between jump post voltage and battery, too.
So, I want to replace the whole positive battery cable, without a
splice. Scott Mo and others have talked about replacing the front
section, but I think I need both sections.
I can't afford to take this car down to extract the cable without
haveing the replacement cable ready and in hand. Although I have this
whole collection of cars, another one just packed it in last night, and
I need to keep this one running as a result. Right now, I am charging
the battery every night. Its the easist one to fix though.
So, can someone tell me what length of battery cable I am going to need?
What gauge? What fitting do I need on the starter side? Do I need to
remove the seat to get access to the part in the cabin? Any other tips
on what order to take things apart?
Thanks in advance. Samir (going crazy with car projects/project cars)
