Walton's book give's production at 1,127 in the period January to October,
with a total of 5,130 Quattro Coupe's made as of January 1984.
I attach the text of a message that I sent to Audi in this connection
Please also advise the meaning of "ETKA"
Thank you for your prompt response. I initially replied through the
link
on your web site.
I have owned since 1983 a Quattro Coupe [US Specs], and given its
mint
condition it will qualify as a collector car in British
Columbia. The car's VIN for reference purposes is WAUDC0851DA901433.
The licensing authorities in Canada require that I prove the number
of
cars of this model that were manufactured during 1983. I can
establish that 240 cars were sold to the USA and 551 were sold to
Canada, but what I need to know is the total production from the
factory of this model during 1983.
I have consulted Jeremy Walton's book "Audi Quattro, the development
and
competition history", but alas his production figures in
appendix 3 are misleading.
It appears that the number of cars sold in 1983 was 1,623, but
production was about 1100 vehicles.
Perhaps you could consult the production records and advise the
Ingolstadt production for 1983.
I thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer me
Thanks for your help,
John Bird

ceased at the end of July and the numbers are nominally capped at 2,500 -
although the true number is probably a little less.--
