You dont need to remove the half shaft from the transaxle to do a CV 
boot.  Just disconnect the strut housing from the control arm, and then 
from the cv, and move it out of the way...

then you have perfectly good access to the outer boot...ive done it twice 
now in the past few weeks on the race cars...
