headrest angle

I've noticed that the headrest on the '91 200Q is much more useful than the
one on the '87 5000TQ. I'm talking about how close it comes to my head when
I'm in a normal driving position. The difference seems to be in the angle of
the metal posts that hold it to the seat back. Has anyone changed this on
their car?
I don't know a lot about metalurgy, but I know about anealing and quenching
to get soft or hard metal after heating it up. (I quenched the spring for my
fresh air flap after heating and bending a new loop in it). I don't know if
this kind of metal will stand heating, or bending. Anyone been there?
