I didn't realize this until recently, but the interesting all-rectangular
look for small residential houses (as it can be seen in Gropius' house
near here in Concord, Massachusetts) translated into the many
boring square featureless highrise buildings we can see all over the
US today. A pity, really. (On the other hand, I had a Bauhaus-inspired
bed as a child - all solid rectangular wood , measured 1m * 2 m
exactly (a bit hard to find mattresses for :) (probably 50 cm high - never
thought about measuring it before), quite neat.)
