To my understanding the only time this light blinks and doesn't come on 
steady is when the engine has reached Knock protection capability.  This 
happens when your engine can no longer retard the timing far enough to keep 
it from detonating.  I kinda read this in Bentley manual so I am not sure 
about it cause my car doesn't have Knock sensing engine and the one I did 
have with it didn't have a check engine light.  If what I say is accurate I 
would suggest bumping up your fuel octane rating a bit.  Might find your self 
getting better performance too.  Good luck with it hope I helped
