5KTQ - 5speed shifting knob availability?

The leather on the 5-speed shift knob in my '88 5KSQ was torn and ratty
looking.  I stripped it off and found that the knob was wood.  Lightly
sanded the wood.  In sanding, I scratched up the plastic on top where the
shift pattern is displayed.  Getting the remnants of the old leather out
from under that plastic also scratched it.  Then I put a few coats of
varnish on the wood and plastic.  The varnish filled in the scratches on the
plastic, making it smooth.  No scratches to be seen.  The varnish also
darkened the wood just enough to make it attractive.  Now I have an OEM
wooden shift knob with the correct shift pattern for free with just a little
effort.
