Probably just the WOT switch doing what it's supposed to do--namely cutting
off the AC compressor when you push the accelerator to the floor.  When you
let off, does it get cold again?

Tried to prove this correct, but it seems my original theory is still alive.
Actuated the WOT switch while A/C was on. Compressor clutch did not release
immediately, although it did shortly thereafter. Not sure if it cycled out
on high pressure or if it was the WOT. The recirc flap did not open.
Subsequently, simulated hard acceleration (without WOT) and the vacuum
canister began releasing the recirc door lever. Still a mystery as no vac
leaks were detectable.
